RULES
-
The winner is the first person to touch the Eye once the treasure hunt begins.
-
If you are the first person to Find the Eye, you will automatically win $1,500. In order to qualify for the full $5,000 payout you must be registered AND Find the Eye wearing the official event t-shirt.
Some examples of how this works:-
If you borrow a t-shirt but are not registered, you find the Eye and touch it first, you will be eligible for the $1,500 prize but not the full $5,000 prize. (You have the shirt but are not registered.)
-
If you register but go exploring without your official Find the Eye t-shirt, locate the eye and touch it while not wearing your t-shirt, you will only be eligible for the $1,500 prize. (You are registered but don’t have your shirt when you find and touch the Eye.)
-
-
Registration will begin August 1st, and the initial order of shirts will be placed August 16th. After that, registration costs will go up. Early registration costs are $23 for adults, $16 for children (15 and under), and $60 for families (includes two adults and up to three dependent children 17, living at the same residence). The official t-shirt is included with registration. All registration fees are non-refundable.
-
Any cheating is not tolerated – all winnings will be forfeit if cheating is discovered. There are live cameras on the eye to document the Eye and how it is found. Tampering with the cameras will result in immediate disqualification and banning from any future events.
-
If you believe you have found the Eye, you must immediately submit photo evidence clearly showing you, wearing the t-shirt, holding the Eye and where you found it as proof to qualify. *** Image quality is imperative: No exceptions will be made if there is uncertainty on your attire. **-
-
Text your name and your photo to 503-842-5568 or 971-320-4263 immediately upon finding the Eye – do not leave, unless your cellular carrier does not have coverage at the site. Send your photo, then call the number and wait for instructions.
-
There can only be one winner. Disputes over who found the Eye will eliminate all parties immediately.
-
The Eye is the property of Tillamook Vision Center and must be returned in order to redeem the prize.
-
If you break any law – i.e. trespassing, vandalism, littering, destruction of property (vehicles, homes, landscaping, fencing, etc.) while hunting you are responsible for all fines, as well as any charges that are made against you. You will be disqualified from all current and future events.
-
Participants are expected to be courteous of others as they attempt to Find the Eye. BLM guidelines for outdoor ethics, as well as details of Leave-No-Trace and Tread Lightly, are referenced on this website. Gross violations of these principles will be grounds for disqualification.
-
The Eye will not be hidden within 50ft of any commercial building or residence.
-
The Eye will not be hidden anywhere requiring specialized equipment or training to reach. It will be located in a place where an average person can arrive, on foot, safely and without significant risk or danger.
